unimagined futures

Unimagined futures

A call to informed action

If the current "strategic system" was roughly adequate, would fraudulent accounting (why do they find it necessary to cheat), organization crisis or walking dead stories appear in the news? Why in a growing economy does this happen? Why does it happen in organizations spending billions on research and development, all the popular activities, and brimming with MBAs and Ph.D.s? What does this say about their mental terrain maps and work approaches? Are these people just stupid and willfully trying to be stressed, frustrated, and fail? Are the CEOs of these organizations purposefully destroying their own wealth and reputations? Why in organizations with hundreds of thousands of employees can't a qualified CEO successor be found? Why does Warren Buffett essentially avoid technology companies? Why in a growing economy does it seem to get more challenging rather than less challenging?

Although it may not be obvious, there is a direct connection to: poverty; crime; financial stress on the infrastructure, state and local budgets (schools), and the national park system; pension system underfunding; health care system inadequacies; and terrorism among other things.

Other mental connections:

  1. Opinions on the future of higher education and
Peter Drucker on Education and the Educated Person
  2. Why great companies fail
  3. Common misunderstandings
  4. Council on Competitiveness Urges National Innovation Ecosystem
  5. Entrepreneurship and Innovation
  6. Stories in the news
  7. Bob Embry's Time-life navigation weblog

How many people have this awareness adequately embedded in their planning and action? My experience and experiences. See myopic brains.

What about the people being left behind as we move toward a knowledge society? (Two Americas?)

My conclusion: system failure

In which of the Internet directories (Google, Yahoo, The Open Directory Project) would you expect to find a site that deals with the time-life navigation © synthesis? Could these directories be a time-life navigation sub-topic—an outgrowth of the changing social and economic picture?

How would success at a particular endeavor enhance the system?

Would it make the system more healthy and to what extent (percentage of global population)?

How significant on an individual level would that success be?

How permanent would that success be?

It’s up to you to figure out what to harvest and calendarize
working something out in time (1915, 1940, 1970 … 2040 … the outer limit of your concern)nobody is going to do it for you.

It may be a step forward to actively reject something (rather than just passively ignoring) and then working out a plan for coping with what you’ve rejected.

Your future is between your ears and our future is between our collective ears — it can’t be otherwise.
